Free Firefox Download - Get It Now And Secure Your PC Instantly

By: Onlynux

This article will teach you how to configure your security settings in Firefox, but if you still don't have the Firefox browser, get it now going to the bottom of this page.

The Firefox settings you want to take care of are the Security settings. Go to the [Tools] link on your toolbar, click for a new drop down menu click [Options]. At the top of the options page click on [Security]. There are advanced security features you may want to read about in the Help link at the bottom of the options page.

A very important setting relates to first statement so check the box [Warn Me When Sites Try To Install Add-ons] because there are people who will attempt to place an add-on onto your computer without your knowledge or approval. The second statement is also important because with a website like PayPal or Microsoft there are those who have created a very similar site and you can, without realizing this, give up personal information to site, which is a forgery. So, place a check in the second box and click the circle with the statement [Check By Asking Google About Each Site I Visit].

Next is the section about Passwords. It is a good idea not to check either box and enter your password each time you go to a site for greater security. If you are afraid of forgetting passwords, then Firefox will remember them for you and you can check the first box here. Some people like to use a master password, but this is a personal preference. Here you can check one or the other or leave the boxes blank.

The last section is the information related to web pages, which are encrypted and unencrypted pages. You can check all of the statements or some of these statements. It is a good idea to click on the Help link at the bottom of the page and read the information about each of these statements before deciding, whether or not to check any of the statement you see here.

In the last section of the Options menu click on [Advanced Settings] and then click on [Update]. In this section, it is a good idea to check the boxes so Firefox will automatically update your computer and tell you if a particular update may disable one of the add-ons you have downloaded to one of your toolbars. Under the statement, [Automatically Check for Updates To:] it is a good idea to check all three for Firefox to update itself, Add-ons and Search engines on a regular basis. In the next section, you tell Firefox to make these updates each time they are found. So, if you click on the circle with the statement, [Automatically Download And Install The Update] Firefox will do this for you each time an update for Firefox, an Add-on or a Search engine is found.
